AITP February Meeting

Event: Tom and Michaela Nielsen

Tom and Michaela Nielsen are lifelong practitioners of both technology and people. Michaela has worked inside Human Resources for the last 20 years, working with a variety of industries, while Tom has started several successful companies inside the information technology space. Their passion for people and technology led them to the realization that HR & IT go hand in hand and helped form Soarin Group, an HR and IT consulting company. Both operate on senior leadership roles inside businesses and nonprofits within the regional area. In Michaela’s spare time, you’ll find her hanging out with her golden doodles and Tom likes to violate HR policies and continue to figure out how to get fired from his current job. They are the founders of a national nonprofit called Jason’s Heart which works with at-risk individuals re-entering the workforce and successfully training them in the fields of IT and Media. They have a podcast called Heart and Hustle which can be found on all platforms.

Topic: Why Being the Smartest IT Geek in the Room Still Won’t Get You Anywhere People inside the technology space often have little understanding of the company they work for, nor do they have the desire to learn. Many IT professionals only see what is in front of them. In this presentation we want to give you some insight to overcome that issue and make a huge impact in the organization you work for. Hint: You need HR.
